History
FEMTEC history started in October 1937, when
The Fédération Internationale des Stations Balnéaires, Climatiques et Maritimes was formed and the first President
Jozsef Ferenc (Hungary) was elected. The second congress took place in Germany in September, 1938. And in June, 1939 an extraordinary congress was held in Belgium. The Federation function was interrupted during the Second World War.
In July, 1947 at the first post-war congress in Switzerland the Federation was given the new name
lnternational Federation of Hydrotherapy -
Climatotherapy-Fédération Internationale du Thermalisme et du Climatisme (FITEC). Presidents of the Federation: from 1947 till 1969
Dr. August Schirmer (Switzerland), from 1969 till 1998
Dr. Guy Ebrard (France) and from 1998 till 2014 Prof.
Nikolay Storozhenko (Russia).
Prof. Umberto Solimene (Italy) is the Secretary-GeneralSince 2002 and
President since 2014.
During the last 53 years General Assembly, scientific Congresses, Executive Committee and Board meetings were held in many different places, including European countries, Japan, Peru, Russia and others.
In 1999 the General Assembly at Yalta decided to change the name (''International Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy'' to
FEMTEC (Fédération Mondiale du Thermalisme et du Climatisme - World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy).
