In memoriam Umberto Solimene
Prof. Umberto Solimene, the dedicated and visionary president of FEMTEC between 2015 - 2023, a remarkable example of intelligence, passion and generosity, led our organization to new heights, bringing Hippocratic balneology into the third millennium. His work has been groundbreaking.
He played a critical role in developing sustainable hydro-balneo-climato therapy research and practices worldwide, always guided by passion and respect for forerunners. He left behind him a lasting impact on high education of young generation of balneologists, demonstrating his belief that real legacy is education.
His activity was about bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and fostering a sense of community responsibility towards natural therapeutic factors, and traditional, complementary and integrative medicine. His enthusiasm was infectious, and his genuine care for both people and the natural environment was evident in everything he did.
Prof. Umberto Solimene's legacy will always be remembered, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to strive for excellence.

The French delegation included the mayor of Varangéville, Mr. Christopher Varin and two members of the local council, respectively Ms. Dominique Lamontagne and Mr. Alexandre Louis.

The World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy, FEMTEC, maintains excellent relationships with institutions dedicated to training, promotion and research in the field of health, spa and wellness tourism. Considering the importance of the development of this sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, in March 2023 the only “International Chair of Health and Wellness Tourism” was inaugurated, based in Havana, to provide a concrete response to the commitment to the development and innovation of scientific-technical specialties related to the sector with proposals to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030.
