Symposium: THE PATIENT OF THE FUTURE SYSTEMS MEDICINE - Models of integration in clinical practice and new therapeutic solutions
University of Milan - Sala Napoleonica Live streaming - See the program: EN , IT
The 2023 edition of the “Systems Medicine Symposium: Models of integration in clinical practice and new therapeutic solutions” takes over from the first edition which, with the subsequent Declaration of Milan 2022, designed the trajectories of the transition from Medicine of the present to that of the future.
In the 2023 edition, the focus of the Symposium will be the person, or better yet, the patient of the future. In fact, the continuous and progressive climatic and environmental changes, along with the new models of social relations, are profoundly affecting the health conditions and the determinism of the disease state of the human being in the 21st century.
Moreover, the reductionist approach, extremely prolific in new knowledge and experimental results, has not solved the emerging aspect of complexity, rather it has highlighted it.
The new nosographic scenarios, inspired by the trinomial homeostasis-complexity-chaos, are configured for the "patient of the future",(increasingly chronic, with comorbidity, and polytreated). At the same time, new therapeutic approaches - preventive, interventional or rehabilitative - are necessary for health scenarios which are very different from those of even the last few decades.
Given these premises, the challenges awaiting Medicine require a re-reading of the model of the human being, interpreted as a complex system within an environmental network inserted in a social network.
Systems Medicine, which has its roots precisely in systemic-complex thinking, appears capable of designing new diagnostic-therapeutic approaches and contributing to the construction of new health models according to the multidimensionality of the object-subject- environment relationship, in line with the WHO's One Health program.
The topics covered in the Symposium “Systems Medicine: Models of integration in clinical practice and new therapeutic solutions - THE PATIENT OF THE FUTURE”, from epigenetics to -omics, from communicable to degenerative diseases, from bioethics to pharmaceutical resilience, from biomedicine to rehabilitation and many others, will be the inception of discussion and will represent the starting point for the definition of new treatment models and new therapeutic solutions.
